MARCY PLAYGROUND rides again!!!

While ultimately known to Top 40 radio hounds for their INCREDIBLY over-played single, “Sex & Candy,” Marcy Playground has put forth an impressive catalog of pop songs. Frontman John Wozniak’s gift for songwriting is such that it has kept this pop junkie continually grovelling back to the band’s first three records for a fix.

Tube Mix

When I was 16, I got a mix tape for my birthday from my friend Liz.  I still have it but it’s seen better days. It earned it’s keep when my car stereo died. A couple of years ago Liz moved to D.C. and I haven’t actually seen her since. We chat, I plan to visit, I miss visits. I sent this to Liz a few weeks ago after we missed each other again on her last trip.

Year of the mix

I got into music pretty late, I was probably 13 before I could move past the concept of the radio as something outside our family van. To be fair, it wasn’t long after when I discovered that all the good novelists did not in fact die in a blood feud, destined to be born into the next life as high school teachers, as I had believed.
